Louis Énault (1824, Isigny-sur-Mer – 28 March 1900) was a French journalist, novelist, travel writer, and art critic. He wrote for Le Figaro, L'Illustration, Le Constitutionnel, and other major publications, and was a regular critic of the Paris Salon throughout the 1870s–1880s. He published fiction, nonfiction, and translations, and was celebrated in his lifetime though afterward little remembered. At the Mouzay soiree of 26 May 1880, "Louis Enault vient me baiser la main" (Louis Enault comes to kiss my hand) — an established literary figure paying respects to the young artist-diarist at a society gathering.
