Overview
The Quai Saint-Jean (or Quai Saint-Jean-Baptiste) was a street or quayside in Nice frequented by the Bashkirtseff family for shopping and errands in 1873. Marie visits it to check on a grey bodice ("corsage gris") being made there, and finds the workmanship disappointing: "c'est mal fait, j'ai besoin d'une robe, celle-là est manquée."
Diary References
- June 14, 1873 (005.0275): "Puis au quai Saint-Jean voir le corsage gris. C'est mal fait, j'ai besoin d'une robe, celle-là est manquée."
Research Notes
Also referenced as "Quai Saint-Jean-Baptiste" in an earlier carnet 004 entry (April 1873), suggesting this is the same quayside. The Quai Saint-Jean-Baptiste was a known address in old Nice near the port area.
