- April 23: Quoted from Le Derby: stayed at Shepheard's Hotel "en même temps que ces messieurs" (Hamilton and Mandeville). Known at Baden, has "la réputation d'être l'un des premiers gentlemen-riders de son époque" (reputation as one of the premier gentleman-riders of his era). Won several important steeplechases on Hamilton's horse Bar-le-Duc. Departing for Vienna.
