Basic Information
"Giro" is Marie's nickname for Olga Sapogenikoff, short for "Giroflé" (from the operetta Giroflé-Girofla by Lecocq, 1875, about twin sisters). Olga was the daughter of Nina Sapogenikoff, part of a close Russian family who were friends of the Bashkirtseffs in Nice.

Connection to Marie

Olga was also revealed to have been in love with Audiffret during the same period as Marie's interest in him.
