Girofla (Emile d'Audiffret)

Overview

"Girofla" is Marie Bashkirtseff's nickname for Emile d'Audiffret, a young Nicois nobleman. The name comes from the operetta Girofle-Girofla by Charles Lecocq (1874), where Girofla is one of the twin brides.
